Volunteer Opportunities

Awards:

Time improvement – these awards are handed out weekly at practice after the first meet. The time information will be given to volunteers, and they fill out “award” form and separate them into age groups. These awards are given out by the coaches during practice the following week.

End of year – these volunteers are responsible for ordering and organizing the end of year towels and trophies for the awards banquet.

Casino Night:

This is our annual fund raiser for the Cudas. Volunteers on this committee help obtain donations for silent and live auction items, help in the planning, and set up of Casino Night, and “host” this event. This year Casino Night will be held on June 19th.

Concessions:
These volunteers run the “Cuda Snack Shack”!! There are several ways to help out in this area:

Shopping: these volunteers help shop for supplies needed for the concession stand each week.

Baking: these volunteers make cookies, breakfast tacos ,etc. as agreed on by the concessions manager. They are made a head of time and brought the day of the meet.

Concession workers
– these folks run the Snack Shack during meets. You can sign up for an entire meet, or for a shift!

Cooks – the Grill Masters!! Volunteers are needed for manning the grill during meets!

Set up – The most fun of the day….early morning set up! The best coffee to be found is available for those early morning risers while everything is brought together.

Data Entry/ Computer Room: The “coolest” jobs we’ve got….literally! These are the ones for those of you that like an air conditioned room!

Data Entry volunteers help in the computer room by verifying event times before they are entered into the swim meet computer. This isn’t a hard job, you just need to know how to use a pencil and make a circle!!

Computer Room – these folks are responsible for inputting swimmers info the day of the meet, entering times, and printing out line ups. A class on Meet Manager is recommended, this will be provided by the swim team.

End of Year Banquet: - these volunteers will help in the planning, decorating and organizing of the End of Season Banquet. There is also a committee that will set up the day of the event.

Merchandise - the Cuda shopkeeper.  Help with the purchase and sale of Cuda items like yard signs, decals, caps, clothing, goggles, etc.

Officials
– We need you!! The meet can’t happen with out officials. You get the best seat in the house, get to wear cool white clothes, and are an invaluable part of the volunteer team. Certification is required and provided.

Party planning – These volunteers plan and coordinate our spirit parties! These are held throughout the season. Fun, fun, fun!!!

Ready Bench – The meet really flies by here!! Ready bench volunteers help line swimmers up in their assigned lanes, assist swimmers from the waiting area to the pool deck, and help relay teams line up in order. This area is crucial to keeping the meet running efficiently and smoothly.

Ribbons – these spots are really cool too!! These folks help in the computer room mid-way through the meet until the end of the meet, to organize the ribbons won by each team. Again, this volunteer area is in the air conditioned computer room!!

Sign In – These volunteers check in all Cuda swimmers at meets, both home and away. You will be set up at a table, and check off swimmers as they sign in. This job is completed before the meet starts, as the list has to be turned into the computer room by 8am. You will have to be there a little early!! (But maybe someone will bring you a doughnut!!)

Tent Parents – Some of our most cherished volunteers!! These folks are responsible for an age group tent. They check the kids in, make sure they get to the ready bench in time for their events, and for the younger kids, make sure they get back to the tent! Sign up with a friend or two, it’s easier and more fun to share the job!

Timers/Scribes/Runners – This area requires a huge amount of volunteers at each meet!

Timers – these folks time all events during their shift. There are three timers in each lane at all times. There are generally two shifts during each meet.

Scribes – these folks verify the swimmer’s name in their assigned lane, write down the times called out by the timers, and give heat ribbons to 10 and under swimmers in one particular lane.

Runners – these individuals will carry event sheets from head timer to computer room. They will also bring out event sheets to officials and ready bench volunteers.

Set Up – The muscle behind the Cudas! This is our crew that set up the age group tents; tents and chairs by the pool (home meets), ready bench, etc. They help get our equipment ready for weekly meets! They have lots of fun too!!!
